Since the foundation of the Balvenie distillery there have been hardly any changes; the single malts are still produced in the traditional way.
The Balvenie, with its sister distillery Glenfiddich, is still independent and family owned by its founders.
The Balvenie 12 Years Old American Oak belongs to the “Stories” range of the distillery. The three bottlings tell the story of the distillery.
The description “The Sweet Toast of American Oak” reminds us of the story of the Malt Master apprentice Kelsey McKenchnie.
McKenchnie used double toasted Virgin Oak barrels from Kentucky to try to create a fruitier and sweeter Balvenie.
Colour: gold.
Nose: sweet, fruity, complex.
Taste: Candied fruit, coconut, delicate vanilla.
Finish: Long lasting.
