Family-owned and sustainably produced rum since 1890, Flor de Caña is the world’s first rum producer.
In 1875, Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa, a young adventurer from Genoa, Italy, left his family behind to travel to the exotic land of Nicaragua. The perfect location for the distillery was found at the foot of San Cristóbal Volcano, the highest and most active volcano in Nicaragua. The fertility of the surrounding lands, the enriched water and the hot volcanic climate proved to be crucial for the unique and smooth taste of the rum.
Flor de Caña stands for a greener future and fair trade certified spirits.
