The company’s founder, Don Andrés Brugal Montaner, left his native Spain to seek wealth in the Caribbean.
After learning the craft of rum production in Cuba, he was drawn to the Dominican Republic, more precisely to Puerto Plata, around 1855. It is in this city that the rums of the Brugal company still mature today. After a few years there, he developed his own production process, which ensures the consistent quality of the rums. To this day, this process is a well-kept secret that is now passed down from generation to generation.
Brugal expands its line of high-quality and noble products with the 1888 Ron Gran Reserva.
It is aged for at least 14 years in selected barrels, maturing for a time in oak barrels and then still in sherry barrels.
Color: Dark amber.
Nose: Complex, soft, spicy notes, hints of chocolate and cinnamon.
Taste: Full, smooth, noble, complex.
Finish: Long lasting, sweet.
