For decades, Petovia Domači rum has been a loyal companion of most Slovenian housewives when preparing traditional Slovenian desserts and cakes. Its recognizable aroma and typical taste also enrich many hot drinks (tea, punch, grog, coffee) and cocktails.
Domestic rum with a geographical indication is a spirit drink produced in the Republic of Slovenia. It is a clear spirit made from a distillate obtained by distilling fermented syrup from molasses or sugar cane juice, distilled to a maximum of 96 vol. % alcohol, to which the characteristic rum aroma and coloring are added to give the drink a characteristic reddish-brown caramel color. It differs from other rums in that it is flavored and colored.
Domestic rum must contain at least 37.5 vol. % alcohol, and domestic rum can be marketed with an alcohol content of up to 80 vol. %.
